Delegates attending GeoSt.John's 2019 will be treated to exciting social events where they can meet, mingle and get to know their professional colleagues in a relaxed setting, outside of the technical and business streams.
Numerous social events are planned and will be included in the full conference registration packages, or can be ordered "a la carte" by delegates attending part of the conference and for accompanying guests. The tentative program of Social Events includes the following:
Icebreaker and Exhibitor Reception
Sunday, September 29, 2019, 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Come and meet up with old acquaintances, or introduce yourself to new colleagues from across the country and other parts of the world, as we join together for a complimentary "drinks and nibbles" cocktail reception in the Trade Exhibition Hall.
CGS Awards Banquet
Monday, September 30, 2019, 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
This is our time to celebrate the meritorious and professional service achievements of our CGS geotechnical colleagues. In keeping with tradition, the St. John’s Organizing Committee is planning an up-scale evening with fine dining and entertainment!
St. John’s Local Colour Night (The Rooms)
Tuesday, October 1, 2019, 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
The organizing committee wants to make sure all delegates and their guests leave the conference with a true sampling of island hospitality. The Rooms is Newfoundland and Labrador's largest public cultural space. It represents and showcases the province to the world. Local Colour Night will include Celtic fiddlers, Newfoundland Irish Step Dancing, an official "Screech In" ceremony, and other mixed musical entertainment unique to St. John's and its colourful history. All of this, combined with lots of opportunity to casually visit with colleagues while experiencing great local food and drinks.
Be sure to bring your partner and include these popular social events in your plans when attending GeoSt.John's 2019.
